Truckee - The Band
COMING UP:
Defunct. Site is moving to www.truckeenyc.4t.com .

TRUCKEE is a 3-piece indie rock outfit combining the pop sensibilities of Built To Spill and Guided By Voices with the electric-guitar driven power of Dinosaur Jr. and the Byrds to come up with a unique sound that is best described as jangly garage pop.

Singer/guitarist/songwriter Stephen Ericson has backed NY and NJ bands such as Contact By Garvey and Unsound. He has spent the last year refining his vision by playing open mic and acoustic nights around Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He rips through Beatles-esque chords and melodic leads while singing pertinent, personal lyrics about lost loves and bathroom sinks. He usually plays a 1967 Hagstrom 12-string and writes most of the songs. Other tunes develop as a group effort.

Stephen and drummer Todd Kovner met while working at a Manhattan tech start-up. Todd has played bass and drums for NY and DC bands such as Mouthfull, Lunkhead and Channel12. After a few sessions, they decided to self-record a demo to help find a bassist and land some gigs. Todd's also an actor and has been in films with Bill Pullman and Lauren Ambrose and also drums for Junior and Sons, featuring members of Jerkwater, Kings County Queens and Skycam. You can check out his site at www.toddkovner.com.

With the addition of Welshman Vincent Evans on bass, the trio's solid rhythm section allows Steve to careen through melodies on his '67 Hagstrom electric 12-string and homemade effects pedals. Vincent plays Rickenbacker and Fender basses. He's from Pontypool, Wales. He says that he started out as a drummer.

The band lives and rehearses in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn.
